A really cozy brunch spot! Try to make a reservation if you can. They have a nice outdoor patio area that's pet-friendly and perfect on a sunny day. The breakfast schnitzel was delicious and the portion was huge, definitely shareable. The spinach artichoke toast was really refreshing; loved the side potatoes and beet salad. The Reuben is a classic; hearty and filled with corned beef. Everything came out really good, definitely recommend!

If you're looking for a cute little lunch spot after walking through Fredericksburg, this is it! It is on the pricier side, though. We got started with the pretzel and sauerkraut balls. The sauerkraut balls were insane. They were crispy, savory, and the mustard crème fraîche made it the perfect bite. We ordered 2 pretzels for our table. They were huge and fed 6 people. One pretzel super dry but the other was fine. The dry pretzel was really hard to get past but the butter/mustard/apricot jam toppings were very delicious. Our main dish was the duck schnitzel and boy, was it the star of the show. The duck was incredibly tender while the breading had a wonderful crunch. Such a great combination of texture. It was served with a side of German red cabbage and käsespätzle (a creamy, cheesy, pasta). The pasta was so rich while the cabbage was tart. It was a lovely contrast and complimented the duck well. Otto's was a great choice for us after walking around in the sun. Definitely recommend!

I visited Otto's with a group of friends (party of 5) on a Saturday afternoon around 4 PM, and we were able to get seated almost immediately. The atmosphere was welcoming, and our server was super nice, accommodating, and attentive throughout the meal. Two friends in our group had been to Auslander but not Otto's before, and they said they enjoyed Otto's more! We started with the Brot and Butter, which came with 5 slices of bread. For my main dish, I went with the duck schnitzel (apparently a menu staple), and it was absolutely delicious. I don't think I've ever seen duck prepared like this before, and it was such a unique take. The outside was perfectly crispy, while the duck meat inside was juicy and flavorful. It actually reminded me of the high-quality duck you'd find with Peking duck dishes. By the end of the meal, I was completely stuffed, but everything was so worth it. If you're looking for a spot in Fredericksburg with delicious food, unique dishes, and a great atmosphere, Otto's is a must-visit.

If you're in Fredericksburg, Otto's is an absolute must. This was my fifth visit, and somehow, it just keeps getting better! The duck schnitzel is my go-to favorite, but honestly, everything on the menu is fantastic. The service is always top-notch, and the Old Fashioned was perfectly crafted. It is small and intimate, which adds to the charm, definitely make a reservation to secure a spot. Can't wait to come back again!

Otto's is a nice little German restaurant just a block off of Main Street in Fredericksburg. Warm and cozy inside, but we opted for an outdoor table on the patio as the sun was still shining! The patio was enclosed for the season and heaters provide ample warmth to sit outside in comfort. The food was good, service was great! Thanks to our server Calissa, she did a great job start to finish. She walked us through the menu, food, cocktails and sparkling wines, and her service was attentive but not intrusive! We started the evening with a couple of cocktails... the Otto's Spezi and the Vino and Velvet. The Spezi was herbal and good, a bit on the sweet side. The V&V was both herbal and sour from the grapefruit, also good. We shared a bottle of Hild sparkling wine from Germany, our first venture into sparkling wine from that country. It did not disappoint! It could have been served a bit colder, but the ice bucket bath added chill to the wine as we dined. Our food courses began with the sauerkraut balls and the Riesling soup. Both were delicious. The grain mustard/creme fraiche made the sauerkraut balls, and the plentiful bits of speck in the bottom of the soup bowl made for a tasty treat. We didn't think the soup was as "wine forward" as had been described, it was very good! Entrees of course included the duck schnitzel, as well as the braised pork shank. We could hear many of the other diners ordering the same entrees... with good reason, they were both exceptional, with leftovers for a midnight snack. It was a very enjoyable meal. We would definitely go back to try other items on the menu, which we understand does change regularly. Recommend Otto's for a fine German dinner in Fredericksburg!

I was referred to this place and it' was described as upscale German. Very nice staff and they got us in a busy night. I had the roasted pork knuckle it was with spätzle and red cabbage very good! The jager Huhn was a chicken with mushroom sauce. It's a little pricey but a nicer restaurant in the area. It's not quite authentic German it is very Americanized but still excellent and enjoyable

We've been here almost a month doing our own sort of 'food and wine' tour so we've been to a few restaurants and lots of of the wineries. There is so much going on here that we feel like we need to do a separate video on our YouTube channel that just addresses the food and wine story here. Up until this point, in our stay (about 3 weeks in) we've felt like the food experience has been pretty mediocre across the board. The food has been OK, not great. The service has been great (with one exception at Pi Social - see that review) and the wine has been OK (We're from California so we have a different pallet for wine). Everyone has their experiences, here was ours: Here is what worked: We thought we had a reservation and it turns out we didn't. We were able to get seated for brunch right away at about 11:15am on Sunday. (I'd recommend going at 12:50 on Sunday - the place is quiet and the rush is over) The server that seated us said the restaurant just filled up so tickets might be a little slow We got our water and drinks right away Our cinnamon roll came right away and was delicious The service was stellar. I didn't catch the name of our server but he was charming and good at his job! My rose was delicious (yes I had wine for breakfast, don't judge) #roseallday the taste of the food was EXCEPTIONAL, creative and inventive (compared to all of the places here that we've been). We had the breakfast schnitzel, the spinach artichoke toast, the one with the long german name and the waffles. Here is what did not work It can get a bit noisy inside. Its 'family friendly' in that they have child seats for your child. There doesn't appear to be kiddy food selections on the menu. There was a child screaming while we were in there. Some of my food was not as hot as I like my food I hadn't finished my breakfast/brunch and I was wondering what I'd order if I came back for dinner! The food scene here in 'Fred' can be pretty expensive and its not really that good, so you really feel like you're getting the short end of the stick...unless, you go to Otto's!

I wanted to give this place 5 stars I did but 4 stars is appropriate. We started with the scallops which were delish but the tomatoes that accompanied them were cold - odd contrast to the scallops. I wish the tomatoes were cooked just a little to release those amazing juices. I had to try the duck since it my favorite protein. It was good. My husband opted for the quail and sadly was disappointed. It was ok - I've been to FBG several time and always wanted to try Otto's - I'm glad we did though. Would still recommend - the wine was delicious!

If you are looking for an upscale German food experience, Otto's is the place in Fredericksburg. The setting is casual and comfortable but the food is definitely elevated. A smaller menu than many restaurants, everything we had was impeccable. We started off with their Sauerkraut Balls which were a mix of sauerkraut and sausage with just the hint of a breaded outside before being beautifully fried perfection. We both had to enjoy the duck schnitzel and it was amazing. The food was delicious, the service was attentive. Highly recommend.
